Feng Shui is a Chinese color and energy artform which harmonizes living spaces with its inhabitants to enhance one's life in areas including Love, Money, Fame, Children, Creativity, etc.
In its most complex execution, this artform incorporates the birthdates of each person in the home or office, the compass direction of the home (or office), and the lucky & harmonizing colors and symbols in each area of the space to create harmony and increase luck & abundance.
I first began studying Feng Shui in the mid 90s. At that time, I was living in a one-bedroom apartment in what is now NoLita in New York City. As I learned more about the psychological effects of the artwork and symbolism in my home, I looked around at the artwork in my little apartment. The main focal point was a huge reproduction of a famous painting of a young girl on a hill. She looks forlorn, maybe even lost. The colors of the background rolling hills were subdued, greys and muted blues, adding to the sadness and loneliness of the work. At the time, even though I lived in the heart of the city that never sleeps, I was lonely. I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and looked through the posters in their gift shop. I found a poster by Renoir entitled Luncheon of the Boating Party.
this is very similar to the artwork that was in my apartment
This is Renoir's "Luncheon of the Boating Party"
When I removed the sad girl artwork and replaced it with the Boating Party, within a week I began being invited to social events and making friends! It was an incredible shift.
When I began paying attention to the color suggestions based on my birthday and the direction of my front door, I also began creating some incredible shifts in my life and began feeling the energy of my home open up to more positive possibilities. There are many elements to Feng Shui, symbolism, the best placement of artwork, harmonizing colors, and the areas of the home that represent possible issues that need special attention or energetic rememdies to increase harmony and positive energy.
